If you are anything like me, you suffer from OCD. I personally have to insure that all of my workspace is well organized, sensible, and looks great. Sharepoint gives you the ability to put a personal touch on each and every one of your pages and sub sites within the application. This is one reason why I have fallen in love with this service.
So how do you do it?
I start with changing the image. I like pictures and I think that they are very helpful in setting the right tone in an online meeting platform.
Step 1
You will need to log in to your Sharepoint account and be under an admin access.
Step 2
Once you are logged in you will need to click on the "Site Actions" tab located in the top right hand side of your screen.
Step 3
Once you select the "Site Actions" tab, a drop down menu will appear. Your next click will be on the "Edit Page" tab.
Step 5
This is where it gets tricky to explain without the convenience of face to face training.
On the screen in front of you, there should be an image that says something to the effect of Windows Sharepoint Services with the windows emblem. Surrounding that logo is a box with the title of "Site Image" directly above the logo I just described. To the immediate right of the "Site Image" title there should be a tab that displays an arrow pointing downward. Click on that arrow.
Step 6
After clicking the downward arrow, another drop down menu should appear. Within that menu will be an option entitled "Modify Shared Web Part". You will want to click on that selection.
Step 7
Next there will appear a set of text boxes that can now be modified. You will want to delete the text that lies in the box entitles "Test link". This box is the very top box.
Step 8
Replace the text that you just deleted from that box with the URL of the image you would like to have displayed.
Shizam!
You now have a new image.
A quick note: If the image you want to upload into sharepoint is not a web image or does not have a URL directing itself to the image, you will need to do 1 of 2 things.
1) Upload the image to the web.
2) Save the image into sharepoint
If you do not know how to save the image in Sharepoint, please see my article entitled "Managing your Sharepoint Photo Album".
